Random Object Blender

blender

The Random Object Blender (ROB) is a unique way of developing idea, a physical version of the ‘unusual combination’ technique that i learned from creative studies class. The aim is to create a playful interaction method, enabling the user to have fun generating silly, wacky and outrageous objects.

The project uses the juxtaposition technique to create content, which is a powerful way to get attention and stimulate thinking. It can also be considered as a digital mashup, using pre-existing sources to create a new derivative work.

The aim is to raise issues on idea generation, intellectual property and copyright. Is originality important? What is considered original? By remaking the original, does the remake itself becomes original? Or should we focus on new and creative approach to pre-existing ideas?

The use of food blender metaphor as an interaction method correlates to the overall concept which is blending multiple ideas/concepts/objects into a single concept.

Nimasyen

nimasyen

Nimasyen is a real-time animation installation project which combines performing and digital arts. The main perception of animation is that it’s a very complex and time consuming process. The project main objectives is to turn that process into a fun and playful experience.

Animation in the context of movies or television shows is transmission-based in which the audience is unable to actively participate. The Nimasyen project on the other hand turns it into an interactive experience, using body motion as an input method that encourages the user to act creatively.

The idea is to create an engaging environment with a low learning curve so the audience can concentrate on interacting and having fun with it.

It’s Your Call.

itsyourcall

An installation/simulation project that puts the user into a terrorist bomber perspective, evoking the detached feeling of a genocidal mania. Issues that this installation is trying to raise:

Ownership control: Should the government limit the availability of gadgets, for fear that it could be used for evil intentions?

The dark side of technology: It seems that everyone is embracing the digitalization of every aspect of their lives, this installation aims to remind the user that technology could also work against them. Should people be cautious of technology?

Life is just a game:  Displaying the result of the attack in the form of infographics shows that even events as significant as death and destruction can be presented as scores or even achievement.
